The background

Back in 2013, the NHS Friends and Family Test (FFT) was created to help service providers and commissioners understand whether patients are happy with the service provided, or where improvements are needed.

This was designed to be a quick and anonymous way to give your views after receiving NHS care or treatment and is used by most NHS services, including community care, hospitals, mental health services, maternity services, GP and dental practices, emergency care, and patient transport.

Problems surfaced with the test because so many organisations were filling it in on paper rather than electronically and, even those who introduced a digital format, found it difficult to produce reports, making it hard to use the feedback efficiently to make service improvements.

The solution

This is when Provide Digital stepped in, creating a bespoke version of this software to enhance the test through ProvideMyExperience.

Similar to Survey Monkey but protected and secure within the NHS framework, the platform allows users to create bespoke surveys on a range of subject matter.

The Friends and Family Test element can therefore be enhanced, elaborating on the standard number of questions.

In addition, different departments can use the app confidentially to generate internal surveys which can be used for anything from an HR exit interview to a staff survey or webinar feedback.

What’s more, the platform, now used extensively across Essex, automatically generates reports on the results and analyses these, giving the user ultimate control over cross referencing questions.

  5. Survey Analysis
    Finally, you can keep track of how your surveys are doing in real time. You can find out more about specific patient experiences with an in-depth review of each survey and look at overall results by comparing data across the board. The application also lets you gather feedback from the survey that can help you make improvements or changes accordingly. On top of this, the review form can be easily shared with a QR code.
